Jann Carroll

Jann’s career started in management training for graduates with a large retail chain. On arriving in Australia she started work with ANZ bank and a few years later became their youngest ever, female manager.

Jann’s career took her into shopping centre management with Lend Lease, before she went back to university to do a teaching degree. During this time she established her training, development and assessment company specialising in training and development for pharmacy assistants and bringing her business management, retail experience and teaching skills together.

After graduation she taught for a few years in primary school, then commenced her Master of Education, which became her PhD. Dr Jann now lectures in Education at the Australian Catholic University and presents worldwide on education and literacy.

Simon Carroll

Simon graduated with a B.Pharm in 1985 and immigrated to Australia in 1987.

He managed Soul Pattinson pharmacies at Hurstville and 160 Pitt Street before joining Australian Pharmaceutical Industries as the Ethical Buying Manager.

In 1992 he moved to Canberra and managed a large pharmacy, before buying his first pharmacy in 1994.

Over the next 15 years he bought 6 existing pharmacies and started 3 greenfield new pharmacies. He innovated with nurse practitioners and a naturopath working in his community pharmacies in the 90’s and offered a range of services such as blood pressure, blood glucose and cholesterol checks, as well as offering sleep apnoea services and home health care equipment for hire and sale.

In 2004 he created, launched and managed the Australian Pharmacy Group brand, before selling all his remaining pharmacies at the end of 2008.

In 2009 he commenced S&J Carroll Consulting Pty Ltd with his wife Jann with clients in pharmacy, such as the PSA and University of Canberra; in other allied health areas, such as optometry; as well as a sports centre and other service industries.

Simon graduated with Master of Marketing from Monash University, School of Business in 2010.

His work with PSA grew until he joined them full time for 4 years from 2011 to 2015, in this time his roles included:

  • Manager Professional Practice
  • Senior Professional Practice Pharmacist
  • Professional Development and Support Manager
  • Program Delivery Manager

This time at PSA included managing:

  • National Intern Training Program
  • Self Care
  • Continuing Professional Development
  • Health Destination Trial
  • Pharmacy Support Program
  • ignite Leadership Program

Currently Simon works as a consultant working with community pharmacies, pharmacy groups, organisations such as the Australian Pharmacy Council and the Pharmacy Guild of Australia and the University of Canberra, School of Pharmacy.

In addition, Simon is CEO of the charity Global School Partners which supports children in Africa receive an education and keep healthy.
